Boat designer john marples has just released boat trailer building plans for small boats. although officially geared to fit the seacilipper 16 trimaran, a modification of the “bunk” would allow other small boats to fit onto the trailer.. I have developed a new, personal trimaran for small adults and kids called the solo12. this is a car toppable boat that is meant to sail with no facility for human power other than hauling out the spare canoe paddle and getting with it.. Small trimarans my frustration stems from the fact that all the existing small tri's are daysailer types. no performance tris at all. by "performance" i mean like a a cat is to a hobie 16 or a nacra 20 is to an f18..
Has anyone run into any production small power trimarans from say 12-20'? or plans or individual projects involving such a design? i searched the forum for small power trimarans and didn't come up with anything that looked relevant.. The boat has proven particularly popular with first time sailors who find the stability of a small trimaran takes away the nervousness that comes from suddenly being heeled by a gust when you don't really feel in full control..
